On May 7, acclaimed comedian Anthony Rodia headlined The Paramount in Huntington on Long Island to a huge influx of fans. He performed two consecutive sold-out stand-up comedy shows.
“It’s amazing,” he exclaimed of The Paramount. “It feels really good, I’m a little shocked.”
Goumba Johnny served as his exceptional opening act, which was able to heat up the Rodia stage with his jokes about family, his wife, and being Italian-American in New York.
Rodia’s daughter Gabriella introduced you on stage, and The Paramount audience went nuts, in the best possible way. He really engaged the crowd by telling jokes about his experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic that were witty and relevant (especially his airplane jokes), and he continued to poke fun at his wife. , her daughter and her Italian immigrant father, as well as being Italian-American in New York.
A first-generation Italian-American born and raised in Westchester, New York, Rodia emerged from the womb making people laugh. In his twenties, he tried a few open mics, but eventually took a different career path as the CFO of a luxury car dealership.
In 2019, Rodia returned to acting and quit his day job to become a full-time comedian. It kicked off and performed 100 shows in just nine months, and within three years Rodia gained a huge fanbase online and nationwide.
In a very short time, Anthony has gained over 900,000 social media followers and his YouTube videos have amassed over 22 million views. Rodia’s comedy is inspired by his real life and his pointed observations on marriage, parenthood, road rage and anything else worth a social media rant.
With the onset of quarantine, Anthony made the most of a captive audience, releasing a staggering 86 weekly videos. “Road Rage Wednesday” became a fan favorite, but its characters Uncle Vinny and Zia Lucia turned into a phenomenon. They’re the crazy uncle and aunt you love but can’t date in public, speaking their minds (whether you ask or not).
In 2021, Anthony launched Rodia Wines, which includes Zia Lucia’s White Blend and Uncle Vinny’s Red Blend that pair perfectly with any of your favorite Italian dishes. Rodia Wines will soon be available in local retail stores and is currently available online through click here.
Rodia also hosts the weekly “Little Bit of Laughs” podcast on Podcast One. Appearing on Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, FOX’s Good Day New York, and Elizabeth and Elisa on News 12, he quietly claimed the “King of Off The Boat Comedy” throne.
“Anthony Rodia is so funny and down to earth that no matter your ethnicity, you can laugh at your life experiences,” said fan and contestant Marisa Frankis.
All in all, Anthony Rodia put on an amazing live comedy show at the Paramount in Huntington. He had the Long Island audience with him every step of the way. It is highly recommended to see him live when he comes to town. Goumba Johnny was just as funny and distinct as his full fledged opener. His live set got an A grade.
