Employees attacked with pipe and hammer in altercation at North Charleston tire store
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – Workers at a North Charleston tire store were reportedly beaten with a hammer and pipe in an assault on Tuesday afternoon.
North Charleston Police Department officers responded to Bernie’s Tires on Rivers Avenue just before 2:00 p.m. after receiving a report that people had been assaulted at the business.
According to a report, three people engaged employees in an argument over the “distribution of air” in their vehicle’s tires.
Police said the three left the scene and then returned – one was reportedly armed with a hammer and another had a pipe when they hit the three employees in the head and face. A third assailant used his hands and hit the fourth victim in the face and back.
The report said the victims were bleeding profusely from the face and head while another had visible marks on her face and complained of back pain. They were each taken to hospital via EMS for treatment.
Police said they were able to see the suspects and collect a description using a security camera installed in the store.
The suspects apparently left the scene in a white Infiniti and a silver Lincoln Town Car.
So far, no arrests have been made.
