Crosscutters lose MLB Draft League Championship Game to West Virginia | News, Sports, Jobs
GRANVILLE, W. Va. – The Williamsport Crosscutters missed winning the MLB Draft League championship as the West Virginia Black Bears scored 10 unanswered points en route to a 10-6 home win Tuesday night.
Williamsport led 4-0 after three innings and held a 6-0 lead before West Virginia scored their 10 runs. Taylor Jackson and Connor Denning accounted for all of the Crosscutters’ hits in the ball game with three apiece and scored all six runs for Williamsport.
Travis Holt had three RBIs during the game, Denning recording two and EJ Taylor recording one.
Starter Jarrett Whorff gave up six runs in his 4 2/3 innings on the mound. In relief, Nick Meyer allowed a run in the third inning, Brandon Kaminer allowed three runs (two earned) in two innings and Jessee Bolt threw a scoreless relief frame.
Williamsport finished the season with an overall record of 44-31 and won the MLB Draft League championship in the second half. This is the first championship of any kind for Crosscutters since 2015.
